I may be biased, but if I were a mom, I would want dessert for Mother’s Day before a candle or flowers. And the truth is, taking the time to bake something rather than mindlessly buying flowers, shows a lot of love.
Mother’s Day is a little different for me since my mom passed away when I was in college. I used to be so bad about remembering it (just like everyone else), but now I remember it every year. The week before, I find myself seeing mothers and daughters on the train or when I’m walking around, and smiling at their relationship. Sure your mom can be annoying sometimes, but think about all those times she’s put you first and totally rocked the motherhood thing. Appreciate your mom–she deserves it. And bake her something. She’ll love it.
